Who Is Jesus?

Sharing is caring!

Majority of the content of this post is from an online bible study.

I have had it for a while and it so blessed me, I thought to share.

So, who exactly is Jesus? Thousand of opinions flying around, but, what does the bible say?

Jesus Claimed To Be God.

  • Matthew 12:6, I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple.
  • Daniel 7:13-14, In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.

The book of Daniel makes it absolutely clear that Jews only worship one God, and would rather be burned alive or eaten by lions than worship a human being. But then Daniel gets a vision of the “Son of Man” who will be worshipped forever and ever by the nations. This is Jesus’ favorite name for Himself.

  • Matthew 12:8, The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” He is claiming to be the God of Genesis 1 and Exodus 20 – The Lord of Sabbath.

His enemies knew He was claiming to be God.

Mark 14:63-64, Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

John 5:18, Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

John 10:33, The Jews answered Him, saying, For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”

After He rose, His friends said that He was God.

Philippians. 2:10-11, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Titus 2:13, Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:28, The Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

Colossians 2:10, For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

2 Peter 1:1, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
